Barbara King

Business Strategist and Franchising Specialist

Each week, Mrs. Frances came through 15-year-old Barbara King’s checkout line. King’s fingers raced across the raised keys with rhythmic grace, typing in the price of every item while Mrs. Frances counted her coupons and limited cash. The two discussed the week and shared insights about life. Such moments cemented their friendship and served as a cornerstone of good business.

Over the past 30 years, King has served customers in various industries including medical franchising, counseling, advertising, printing, and legal services. Most recently, she has created opportunities for new entrepreneurs in the franchise industry with the same efficiency and personal attention that builds trust and impacts business.

King drives company executives to make better decisions that improve products and profits through various techniques and disciplines she has encountered in her diverse career. In the first meeting, she asks all clients the same question she asked as a counselor,  “Do you want to get better?”  To take a company to the next level of success, the leadership must want to be better than they are today and they have to be willing to do things differently.

King then works with these committed executives, drawing from her training in industrial psychology and Human-Centered Design (a framework that facilitates a focus on the customer) to help companies empower employees to listen to customers, something she has known since her days at the checkout line.
